Celebrate with us the Majorcan National Day.

The 12th of September commemorates the solemn declaration of Jaime II, which took place in 1276, granting the Chart of tax exemptions and privileges to the Kingdom of Majorca, which became the legal basis of our country.

A great number of popular and cultural activities are organized every year in order to celebrate the background of this important date. The tradition also explains that, on the very same day, in this case in 1229, Jaime I and his troops came from Catalonia and landed in Santa Ponsa to bring Majorca back to Europe and Christianity. The event is also reminded every year in a recreation of the disembarkation, battle and parade during the King Jaume festivities.

This year the activities will take place until the end of October and will include some novelties, Ist Fun Run “Diada de Mallorca” for example or other, traditional and well known activities which support Majorcan culture such as a floral offering at the grave of Jaume II, Open Doors Day in the Mallorca Island Council head office, 20th Encounter of Giants of Palma and 10th Encounter of Giants of Majorca, Exhibition of fire beasts, the Prize-giving for social innovation as well as an official ceremony during which honors and distinctions will be given to a selected number of Majorcan personalities.

We do recommend taking part in some of the activities to enjoy the real Majorcan culture.
